Up to 50,000 people have marched in Warsaw in support of gay rights. Out of 49 European countries, Poland is 37th on a scale of support for LGBTQ rights.
The 17th annual ‘Equality Parade’ in Warsaw gathered about 50,000 people supporting LGBTQ rights, people with disabilities, religious minorities other marginalized groups, fighting discrimination and promoting acceptance of same-sex unions. Many organisations, NGOs, grassroots initiatives took part in the parade, KOD was also represented. Almost 40 foreign embassies expressed their support for the Parade.
Poland’s conservative government continues to oppose civil unions for same-sex couples in favour of traditional Polish values, family and Catholic traditions.
